Long before Michael began wood turning, he experimented with fine furniture made from non traditional woods. While stationed at Pearl Harbor, he explored working with Hawaiian Koa Wood, now largely unavailable, and made chairs, tables, and jewelry boxes. Michael has now been working in the art of custom rocking chairs, and has a number of them under way in the gallery woodshop for customers of the Redstone Art Center. In the near future, Michael will be adding large custom dining tables and chairs, as well as coffee tables from walnut slabs with live edges. Stay tuned for more images of Michael's work as the Redstone Art Center woodshop projects continue to grow.
